Unmarried youth gets a vasectomy, had gone for a hydrocele operation in Kaimur

The health department's negligence has surfaced again in Bihar's Kaimur district, where doctors at a primary health center performed a vasectomy on an unmarried youth suffering from hydrocele. Vasectomy or vasoligation is an elective surgical procedure for male sterilization or permanent contraception.

Manka Yadav was admitted to the Primary Health Center in Chainpur for an operation to treat hydrocele. However, instead of hydrocele surgery, doctors performed a vasectomy on the young man on Wednesday. The operation left Yadav and his family members in shock, who later lodged a police complaint against the primary health centre's doctor.

"I was suffering from hydrocele. On the suggestion of Asha's staff, we decided to get her operated. That's why I was admitted to Chainpur hospital, where the doctors performed a wrong operation," said Yadav. "I was supposed to get married in a few weeks. But how can I get married now? They have ruined my life. We have lodged a written complaint against the doctor with the local police," said Yadav.

"My son was suffering from hydrocele problem. But doctors have done vasectomy surgery. He is not getting married yet doctors have ruined his life. I want the authorities to take strict action against the accused," said Ram Dahin. Singh Yadav, father of the victim.

Meanwhile, doctors at the primary health center claimed that they informed the patient about the vasectomy procedure, which was done after his approval. Sunil Kumar, in-charge of the primary health center in Chainpur, said, "We have taken notice of the matter and an investigation is underway. We will submit a report to the health department. Necessary action will be taken against anyone found guilty."
